Nigel Shepherd, J.D., CPCU., ARe - Senior Managing Director
Nigel Shepherd is an insurance executive, with over 20 years of strategic planning responsibility at the Chief Claims Officer Level. Nigel has served as SVP- Chief Claims officer for Kingstone Insurance Company, and EVP-Chief claims officer for Aegis Security Insurance and the NY FAIR PLAN.
Nigel serves as a Senior Advisory Board Executive for Optimalex, an insure-tech company utilizing AI to provide predictive analytics to the insurance, reinsurance, captive, defense counsel and TPA markets.
Nigel has held the position of Global Head of Claims for both Aspen Specialty Insurance and the Alea Insurance Group. He was part of Aspen’s Global Leadership Team, responsible for establishing and implementing a strategic business plan for a worldwide claims’ operation. Nigel integrated a diverse Group of Claims business units into one cohesive team. Maximizing intellectual capital and eliminating redundancies in the claims process, Nigel was able to reduce future global hiring by 9%.
Nigel holds a Juris Doctorate from Pace School of law, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Syracuse University. Additionally, he successfully completed a Global Executive Management Program in Lausanne Switzerland, a Management Development Program at the University of Michigan and a Financial Management Program at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Nigel is a member of the NYS Bar and holds both the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriting (CPCU) and the Associate in Reinsurance (ARe) designations. He also has extensive Board experience, as a past Board member of the Loss Executive Association (LEA), Rising Insurance Star Executives (RISE), and National Afro-American Insurance Association (NAAIA)-NY Chapter.
